Dear PBFC Families,
September was quite a fun filled and action packed month for all PBFC teams. We had our own home club tournament that was hosted over two weekends on Sept. 9th/10th and Sept. 16th/17th over three complexes. The main complex used was the beautiful Foley Sports Tourism Complex at OWA as well as Orange Beach Sportsplex and Southwest Sportsplex in Perdido. There were over 240 teams between the two weekends making another successful year for the Fall event.

In the last weekend of September we sent four teams up to the Birmingham Bash (06 Boys, 05 Girls, 02 Girls, 01/02 Boys Black). The 02 Girls and 01/02 Boys Black ended up placing as finalist in their brackets. On asked about the competition his 02 Girls received in Birmingham, Coach Tres Jefferson had to say, “There were some really good teams up there that played Division 1 and 2 State Cup, but we were able to come out on top. The fact that we were able to win these games against some great teams makes me reassured that we are doing the right things back home.”

Players Spotlight for September:
Our players spotlight for September goes to these boys who are participating with Alabama FC and Birmingham United in their respective leagues this season through our club partnership.
September was a busy month for our club between tournaments and league/playdates. We look forward to another busy month of October which will include teams traveling to Montgomery, Destin, and Fairhope/Daphne.
A message from our club president Jimmy Holmes:
You have likely noticed the presence of heavy machinery and construction materials in and around the soccer portion of the complex over the last few weeks. We are excited to report that all of this activity is a function of getting additional athletic field lighting installed on a couple of more soccer fields. A big thank you goes out to the leadership at the Escambia County Parks and Recreation Dept. along with our locally elected county leaders for making this a project reality.
We wanted you to know that we will continue to see more and more equipment arriving along with additional material being staged in and around the fields over the next 4 to 5 weeks. As PBFC parents we need to be extra sensitive and pay super close attention to our kids and do our best to keep our kids from exploring these exciting pieces of machinery and material as much of the activity will take place in close proximity to the fields in the coming weeks. The lighting contractor actually stated drilling pole foundations out at the outermost field earlier today and while they have barricaded these areas off with safety fencing we are asking that all of our players, parents, and coaches be extra mindful of these specific areas and to keep an extra close eye on any little ones that might find interest in these areas.
Thank you for being patient while we make this much needed progress around the soccer fields. This is truly an exciting development and we would like to extend our appreciation to all of the members of Perdido Bay FC Board of Directors for their non-stop pursuit to get additional lights for our soccer program over the last few years. All of their effort has finally paid off. When this lighting project is complete we will still have some additional work to do get the remaining fields finished up with lights as well, but this is a giant step in the right direction for our club and the Perdido Bay community.
Perdido Bay FC – Board President
There are definitely exciting times ahead for our club and we are glad that you all have chosen to be a part of it! Without the support of you all of this would never happen and your children wouldn’t be able to have these memories that will last a lifetime.
