To all PBFC members,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2020!  The PBFC staff is excited to start the spring season and start prepping for the first weeks of the Spring season.

Play Date Recap:

This past Saturday PBFC participated in the first SNAP play date of the year and the event was excellent.  Coaches were able to assess team and player development and shape the curriculum content for their teams based on match performance.  The 2008 boys also had their first official competition in the 11v11 format, experiencing the full field environment.  They quickly realized that the larger field size and longer halves makes a huge difference!   Overall the weekend was full of teachable moments for all of our players which only grow their experience level and ability.

College Recruiting News:

The club would like to congratulate Kayley Smith for signing with Thomas University!  Located in Thomasville, GA the women’s soccer team competes in the Sun conference and is looking to improve from their 2019 playoff run.  Best of luck Kayley and thank you for giving your all to PBFC over the years!

On the boy’s side, University of West Florida is hosting seven local clubs for a college combine Saturday February 29th at their match facility.  Juniors and seniors from PBFC will have the opportunity to display their talents and potentially be recruited by the UWF staff.  In addition there will be other local universities there recruiting the next PBFC player to their program!  Good luck to all of our boys.

Upcoming Events:

PBFC teams will be participating in two more events in the month of February.  A large number of Academy and non-high school aged Premier teams will be competing in the SNAP soccer play date on February 22nd at the Perdido Sportsplex.

At the end of the month, three of our teams will be participating in the Red Stick tournament in Baton Rouge, LA.  Competition level will be high and the 2004, 2006, and 2007 boys will have to be on top of their game to have a championship weekend.

Club Culture:

Now that we are starting to get in to competitive matches again it is a great time to remember why we are here.  At PBFC we pride ourselves on having a positive and controlled sideline cheering on our players and teams.  This article is one that every youth sports parent should read to remind them of why there are at the match and who they represent.  https://changingthegameproject.com/an-open-letter-to-the-out-of-control-sports-parent-sitting-next-to-me-in-the-stands/

Here is another article describing how yelling at referees is detrimental to the kids, a must read for parents and players.

Developmental League or D-League:

PBFC is offering a new program based out of Elberta, AL that bridges the gap between recreational and travel soccer in a fun and enjoyable environment.  D-League provides parents a cost effective way to get their soccer loving child professional coaching on a once a week training schedule.  The kids will come in and learn a new skill, practice the skill, and then look to apply the skill in the match the final 30 minutes.  For more information and to register go to:

ONE CLUB MENTALITY:

Since its inception, PBFC has been working tirelessly towards an atmosphere of unity. From coaches and players to parent volunteers, we are building a One Club mentality. With players moving between various levels of competition within the club and coaches having influence over players beyond their assigned teams, it is crucial now more than ever to create a culture of inclusion and excellence.   Our staff is connected at all levels operating under an integrated training philosophy and playing style.  Regardless of staff member, player, or parent, at PBFC we are all committed to providing the best environment, youth soccer program, and experience for our players to better themselves as soccer players and as people.
